Copper Cooking Pot (Tangia)
Traditional urn-shaped copper or brass cooking vessels used for the Marrakchi tangia dish. Slow-cooked in the embers of a public hammam furnace.
History & Cultural Context
The tangia pot is quintessentially Marrakchi. Traditionally, bachelors and market workers would fill a tangia with meat, preserved lemons, and spices, then leave it at the hammam to slow-cook in the ashes for hours. The tradition continues today.
