Flat-woven rugs without pile, featuring bold geometric patterns in rich earth tones or vibrant colors. Lighter and more portable than knotted rugs.
History & Cultural Context
Kilims are among the oldest textile traditions in North Africa. Moroccan kilims vary by region: Taznakht kilims use saffron yellows and deep reds; Haouz kilims feature black and white stripes. Historically used as floor coverings, wall hangings, and saddle blankets.
